bio:
I grew up in Tucson, AZ. Hot. Very hot. But it’s a dry heat. Like that matters when it’s 110 in the shade. The desert deeply warped my sense of aesthetics–if it’s not made of mud and straw, if it doesn’t smell like wet crumbly brick, if it doesn’t murk about like a pre-monsoon cloud storm, it just doesn’t feel like home.
I went east for school. The green of New England shook me up and spilled me out into college life. I ate up the fall leaves, wore lots of cotton in winter. A wool alergy never did anyone any favors in Boston. Met strong, frightening women and graduated with a degree in painting.
Arrived in San Francisco to make my life. Got a job. Worked. Got another job. Worked more. Discovered the digital joy of bits. Absorbed the wonder delights of the underbelly of the city.
Terrified of owner-occupied eviction (which happened to five of my friends and seemed to be irrationally marching toward me), bought a loft in Emeryville and moved across the bay to the crotch of the Bay Bridge.
Got married, became involved with Emeryville city stuff and other community organizations…found a group of colleagues and thinkers that I love spending my days with…and that’s where the story currently stands.
