ArborApril 05: Old & Wise

Sketches and writing about a juniper tree.

[05] Today’s prompt is Old & Wise
Journal an old tree in your neighborhood.

I’m pretty sure this tree has seen a lot. It’s part of an allée of six Chinese Junipers who all seem about the same age. Not knowing the actual age, I looked for clues: trunk thickness and form, heaviness of bark, height, canopy spread. There was evidence of a lot of pruning, some major. The twisting, gnarled trunks give this tree such a feeling of wisdom, and the way the upper branches arc into the sky…well, this is indeed a special tree.
