ArborApril 06: Let’s Draw Trees! Live Workshop

[06] Today’s prompt was actually a live oneline workshop, woo hoo!
Cathy and I had a “tree-mendous” time drawing trees along with 95 participants at the live online class hosted by Wild Wonder Foundation.
We riffed we ways to celebrate trees in our sketchbooks, and pulled together approaches from Urban Sketching and Nature Journaling, both of which have a rich admiration for and unique approaches to observing and drawing trees, leaves, bark, and habitat. Cathy lead a painting demo & workshop on loose, expressive trees in ink and watercolor. I did a draw-along of branching diagrams…a fast and surprisingly interesting way to see the unique structure of a particular tree. Thanks to moderators Rebecca and Beth who kept us on time and ensured all the questions got answered.
Many of the 95 participants shared their work on the online gallery, and it’s fabulous to see all the interpretations and styles. So much tree love!
If you want to do the workshop, you can view the recorded version, just register on Wildwonder.org.
