ArborApril 15: Stick Figures

[15] Today’s prompt is Stick Figures
Diagram a handful of trees very simply, making basic line drawings of the branching structure.
Diagrams are fabulous. Making a branch diagram of a tree reveals the structure and the form, without the need to journal the details of light, leaf, or canopy. Making a collection of branch diagrams along a street, an allée, a copse, or a forest invites us to see each tree as a unique individual. Including a person reveals the scale of the tree (you could also include an estimate of measurement, or use a different being for scale…a banana perhaps?) Quick, simple, and fun…give these diagrams a try!
Featured trees: So many!
- Lemon
- London Plane
- Olive
- Strawberry tree
- Sycamore (I think)
Inspiration: Watch the workshop! Branching Diagrams are covered in the Let’s Draw Trees online recorded workshop, along with Cathy Raingarden and her fabulous approach to loose tree painting. You can get the recorded workshop at WildWonder.org.
