ArborApril 22: De Colores

16 data visualizations of the colors on an eastern redbud tree in April.

[22] Today’s prompt is De Colores.
Make a tree color chart of the different colors you see when drawing trees. Experiment with novel ways to organize the chart. A pie chart? A grid? A rainbow?

Dancing with data! After 30 minutes with this tree, I collected sufficient color data to explore multiple visualizations. There is so much trunk and branches, but woah those FLOWERS. The quantities are guestimates, but done with intention and from direct observation. It’s so surprising how many colors there are on every tree. Thinking through data showed patterns I didn’t see when on site, like how every main tree part has one small-but-potent accent color. This was super fun.

Featured tree: Eastern redbud ~ Cercis canadensis

Inspiration: Lots of inspirations for this one!
